How Medicare Fits Into Your Retirement

The hallmark of a successful retirement is developing a financial plan that can help ensure your money will last as long as you do. During this new and unique period in your life, how you allocate your money can often matter more than how much of it you have, or how diligent you’ve been in saving it. Having a comprehensive and affordable health insurance strategy is more than just a critical component in your retirement plan; it’s a critical component in your quality of life and well being in your later years.

There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but for many retirees, Medicare is the most
important to learn how to utilize. Medicare guarantees health insurance for people older

Thanksgiving Facts 1

In 1953, someone at Swanson misjudged the number of frozen turkeys it would sell by Thanksgiving - by a lot. So they came up with the brilliant plan of slicing up the meat and repackaging it with trimmings on the side. Thus, the first TV dinner was born!

When Abe Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday, it was thanks to the tireless efforts of a magazine editor named Sarah Josepha Hale. Her other claim to fame was her nursery rhyme: “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”

Only male turkeys, called toms, gobble. Females, called hens, cackle.

If Ben Franklin had his way, the turkey would be our national bird. An eagle, he wrote in a letter to his daughter, had “bad moral character.” A turkey, on the other hand, was a “much more respectable bird.”

Thanksgiving is not just an American holiday. Canadians celebrate it too, but on the second Monday of October.

Why is it called a turkey? Europeans took a liking to guinea fowls imported to the continent of America. Since the birds were imported by Turkish merchants, the English called them turkeys.
